Wherein SMQ chronicles eligibility-crippling issues, legal, academic, institutional and otherwise...

Seeking to relieve the tension of a 4-7 season, two Arkansas players blazed up in their dorms Wednesday...and were ratted out!
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas coach Houston Nutt has suspended guard Fred Bledsoe and defensive end Michael Tate after the players were arrested at their campus dormitory for marijuana possession.

Someone at the University of Arkansas residence hall called campus police after smelling marijuana smoke on Wednesday night, said Lt. Gary Crain. Police knocked on the dorm room door and arrested the players after finding 5 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag inside the room, Crain said.

Bledsoe and Tate are scheduled to appear Dec. 19 in Fayetteville District Court after they were booked at the Washington County Jail and released on $500 bond.

"Fred and Michael have been suspended from our football team for violating team rules," Nutt said on Thursday. "A decision on their future with our program will be made after all other appropriate proceedings have been completed. I'm disappointed that these bad decisions will not only affect their future, but also reflect poorly on the Razorbacks."

Bledsoe, a sophomore, played eight games for Arkansas this year. Tate, a redshirt freshman, appeared once.
Awwww, man, a narc!

Who could the informer be? SMQ wonders:

"Bill Jones"

Hey "dog." I just walked on! Know where I can get any good "stuff," huh? Any "grass," if you know what I mean?...Seriously, I mean marijuana.

Phil Fulmer

We may be 5-6, but at least I don't have to apologize for illegal drug use on my team. Shameful. Just shameful.

Scooter Libby

I was under the impression it was a rumor everyone knew. That's the context in which I spoke about the marijuana use. Marcus Monk called and told me about it. I thought it was common knowledge.
