SMQ ALL-HALF DECADE TEAM
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Yes, friends, we're already halfway through the 2000s, or the aughts or Twenty-Os or whatever, and before continuing with discussion of the first season on the decade's downward slope, SMQ thought it would be appropriate to wax nostalgic on the last five.

Now, the most important thing to remember here is we're talking about performances over the course of these five years; having just one great year probably won't cut it. Meaning there won't be any players who graduated or left school after the 2000 season (sorry Michael Vick and Peter Warrick), or who have just come off big freshman seasons (you'll be on the all-decade team in another five years, Mr. Peterson). Also, with a team like this, because there are so many deserving players, I think it's best to actually construct an entire roster, rather than just first and second teams that leave too many guys out. Of course, I'm not going to throw out the typical 90-man college squad, so I've modeled the positional makeup of this roster on the NFL's Pro Bowl squads.

Comments:
OMG Marlin Jackson OUTRAGE.

Er. Not really. Maybe if he hadn't spent his junior year injured and at safety, and his senior year, while really good, probably won't really at an All American level.

In retrospect, there is an outrageous omission - Ed Reed.

Omissions = SC guys Mike Williams, Troy Polamalu, Reggie Bush, Mike Patterson
