THIS WEEK'S SMQ TOP 25
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
SMQ is foregoing the usual theatrics bearing this blog's name, given that he watched only snippets on a mostly social Saturday.

He did watch - amidst the flailing of a shirtless bar owner standing on his bar, inches from smacking his head on his own ceiling fan - Fresno State give USC hell, but also sees that the Bulldogs gave up 500 total yards to Reggie Bush. The close call precipitates a slip for the Trojans, who have shared the top spot the past two weeks with Texas but fall officially to number two. FSU gets credit for some offense and opportunism, but drops a spot to number 17 due to horriffic defense, even if it is Reggie Bush. Washington and Arizona were better at slowing the Trojans down.

What to make of the ACC Coastal? Virginia Tech crushes Georgia Tech. Miami crushes Virginia Tech. So naturally, Georgia Tech beats Miami. But Georgia Tech also lost to Virginia, who lost badly itself to Virginia Tech. Um...Miami stays ahead of the Hokies despite the extra loss because it wore them out in a big game, Georgia Tech makes a big leap to number 18 after a week out of the poll with its second big win (along with Auburn) of the year, and Virginia...well, the Cavs weren't considered. But they may be if they bring the madness full circle by beating Miami next week.

At the bottom end of the spectrum, Michigan remains on the slate and Colorado moves back into the mix in a close call over Texas Tech, mainly because of this:

Does this look like a touchdown to you?
